Ground Beef Tacos

 

 

INGREDIENTS

1LB Grass-fed Ground Beef

1 Tablespoon Chili Powder

½ Teaspoon Paprika

1 Teaspoon Himalayan Salt

½ Teaspoon Garlic Powder

¼ Teaspoon Onion Powder

½ Teaspoon Coriander

1 ½ Teaspoons Cumin

½ Cup Salsa – No Sugar Added

ASSEMBLY

  1. In a large frying pan brown the beef on medium low heat.
  2. Drain grease.
  3. In a small mixing bowl combine chili powder, paprika, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, coriander and cumin.
  4. Add the taco seasoning, ¼ cup of water and salsa to your beef.
  5. Mix well and simmer.

Serve as a salad or with gluten and grain free tortillas.  Top with lettuce, onion, tomato, cilantro, jalapenos, cheese and sour cream.

HEALTH BENEFITS

Grass-fed Beef: Does it really need to be grass-fed? YES. Grass-fed beef contains significantly more omega-3 fatty acids than grain-fed beef. The optimal ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 fatty acids should be 2:1.   The Western Diet has excessive amounts of omega 6 fatty acids (resulting in a much higher 6 / 3 ratio) which can promote the onset of certain diseases like cancer, inflammation, and autoimmune diseases. Increased levels of Omega 3 fatty acids can show suppressive effects. The goal is to increase your omega 3’s by getting as close to the optimal 2:1 ratio. Your brain will thank you. PLUS, it contains more conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), a type of fat that’s thought to reduce heart disease and cancer risk.

Homemade Taco Seasoning vs. Store Bought Packets:  Store bought packets contain preservatives and in most cases they contain gluten.  Making your own taco seasoning is simple and clean.
